I guess the 1st thing I should do, is tell you about myself! My name is Sheryl & I was born, and raised in Dallas,TX, some 59+ years ago. I'm a total newbie to the net and just found out what a "blog" was.
I am here for one reason....Texas has....as long as I can remember.....believed in the movie, "The Field of Dreams." If we build them (prison's)they will come! Gov. George W. Bush Jr. and his predecessor Gov. Rick Perry have turned Texas into a State that has statics that would scare Stephen King. The U.S.Justice Dept. recently published an article that stated...as a FACT that 1/4 of ALL people incarcerated are suffering from a mental illness!Maybe Leper colonies weren't that bad after all!
During a recent conversation, with an employee of the Bureau of Pardons and Paroles I was informed that contrary to popular belief....WE ARE guilty, till proven innocent! Did I miss something in our constitution?
Our system is so corrupt and we,the people of the state...I love dearly are blindly following people like our Governor. There's an Old OLD saying..that "Sh*# roles down hill!" That should be obvious to even the blind! The State of Texas is threatening to close the Dallas County Jail for overcrowding, inhumane treatment and this has worked it's way down to the hateful Dallas County Sheriff's Deputies who look over these dregs(?)of society!.....Let me qualify something...first! They are humans...some less than others..but none the less...they are humans!
I have seen horrid things during a visit..T.B.& AIDS patients NOT getting their meds.A poor man having a seizure..because the Parkland Doc./Nurse didn't give him his seizure meds..........and another man in a motorized wheelchair(the battery was depleted.)Rather than get him a regular wheelchair.......the inmates had to wheel him to get his meds! This is.....in my opinion..beyond callousness. While I do realize the Sheriff's Dept.is overworked and underpaid...I can't fathom how lowering their hiring standards will be of benefit to anyone, other than getting the State of Texas off their collective asses!I have seen more humanity at the SPCA!!!
IF....you can afford to hire your own attorney.....You can achieve all the justice you can afford........but for the indigent life in a cage and being treated like an animal will continue.................UNLESS.................WE STOP IT! We had PETA stop the usless killing and using of animal fur, yet we condone treating humans as we do! While we may not "kill" each of them physically...........we DO KILL THEIR SOUL!
PS. TB is treatable and when a person is given the proper meds, during incarceration,
there is virtually no risk of putting you or I at risk!If this continue at this rate..TB may be our next plague!
